Born in Verdun in 1882, Lucien Boulier first studied with Jean Leon Gerome at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris. From 1919 to 1932, he exhibited at numerous Parisian salons including the Salon d’Automne, the Salon de la Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts and the Salon des Artistes Indépendants. A prolific painter, he particularly favored portraits of young women and still-lives of flowers. Boulier is listed in all relevant reference works including Benezit which shows a signature sample. We are pleased to offer a charming study of a rose by this notable French Impressionist painter.
