Born in Nebraska, Fitch Fulton first studied at the Art Student’s League in New York and, subsequently, at the Art Institute of Chicago under Frederick Freer and J. Francis Smith.  He came to California in 1913 to design the Western Pacific Railroad exhibit for the Panama Pacific International Exposition and settled in Los Angeles in 1916.  Fulton exhibited widely and with great success and was the recipient of numerous gold medals (Denver, 1913; PPIE, 1915; PSLA, 1938, 1941).  He was a member of the Academy of Western Painters, the California Watercolor Society, California Art Club, and the Painters and Sculptors of Los Angeles which he also served as president (1926-27).  We are pleased to offer a charming landscape, dating to circa 1925, by this notable California painter.
