Paul Hull Julian first attended Chouinard Art School and later studied with Millard Sheets.  Julian was active with the WPA in Los Angeles throughout the 1940’s and his murals and installation commissions may be found in public buildings in Los Angeles and Santa Barbara.  Widely exhibited throughout California, Julian was the recipient of numerous prizes and awards and his work may also be found in the permanent collections of numerous public museums (Golden Gate International Exposition, Oakland Museum and the California Watercolor Society). A notable painter, lithographer and teacher, Paul Julian is well-listed in Who Was Who in American Art and the Dictionary of Artists in California. We are pleased to offer this whimsical and charming work painted when the artist was 29 years old.
