This noted California landscape painter first studied at the San Francisco school of Design before opening a studio in Santa Rosa. He painted and taught there for two years before joining the art faculty at Ursuline College in Sonoma. After 1910, he painted under the name Sidney Tilden Daken. A prolific artist, Daken exhibited widely and with success including at San Francisco’s Pan-Pacific International Exposition of 1915. His work may be found in numerous museums including the Oakland Museum of Art, the Fresno Museum and the Nevada museum of Art. We are pleased to offer this luminous landscape from Daken’s middle period.
