Fritz Faiss first studied under Paul Klee and Wassily Kandinsky at the Bauhaus School in Berlin. His natural inclination towards the artistic expression of subjective perception was philosophically reinforced by his explorations of the principles of Chinese and East Asian art. This later led to his rejection of naturalism and his exploration of painting as a vehicle for expanded perception. Though primarily a painter, Faiss was also a notable sculptor, wood-carver and printmaker and is additionally known for his scientific studies of the properties of color. The artist is well-listed in all prominent reference works and his paintings are held in museums throughout the United States and Germany. We are pleased to offer this vibrant
post-Impressionist painting which was recently de-accessioned from the Laguna Art Museum.
