This notable California artist and author first studied with Nicolai Fechin from whom he derived his lyrical, a la prima style and his interest in the psychological penetration of the subject. Reed exhibited nationally with great success and was the recipient of numerous gold medals and other awards for both painting and sculpture. Reed’s work is held in numerous public collections including the State of California Governor’s Office, Sacramento and Los Angeles City Hall. We are pleased to offer this bravura example of Reed’s mature work dating to circa 1960.
