MOGENS HERTZ
(Danish, 1909-1999)
BORNHOLM LANDSCAPE
11 x 18 Inches.
Oil on Canvas
Signed Lower Left “Mogens Hertz 60”
This exceptional Impressionist artist first studied with the classically-trained Academician L.A. Ring and subsequently with the notable Danish painter, Rostrup Boyesen. Hertz later continued his formal studies at the Charlottenborg Academy before moving from Copenhagen to the idyllic countryside outside Gudhjem. He became a prominent member of the Bornholm School and his work exemplified their acclaimed style of lyrical and painterly landscapes painted in an Impressionistic style that verges on the abstract. We are pleased to offer this lyrical small work that shows the artist’s freshness of palette and intuitive brushwork together with a truly virtuoso talent for composition.
