DANIEL CAMP

(American, 20th century)

ABIGAIL, BY THE LIGHT OF THE POOL

Watercolor and Gouache on Paper

40 x 24¾ Inches

Signed Lower Right, "Daniel M. Camp"

Daniel Camp painted and taught art at San Diego College in the 1980's and became known for his substantial and psychologically penetrating figural and portrait works in which he shows his, frequently quotidian, subjects inhabiting an apparently otherworldly or spiritual atmosphere. Camp's painting style is dark and brooding and invested with a palpable ‘psychological tension’, both between and within his subjects.

Daniel Camp has exhibited with success throughout San Diego and Southern California including at Maple Creek Art Gallery, OMS Voyage in Italia, La Jolla Village Square Gallery (1985) and Anuska Gallery, San Diego, (1986).
