Born in Hamburg, this German landscape painter first studied in Munich with Adolf Schinnerer. He continued his studies in the South of France, where his palette brightened as he full under the influence of Kokoschka and Van Gogh. He subsequently continuing to travel extensively and to paint in Spain, Italy and North Africa. Hermann Geiseler exhibited widely and with success and was the recipient of numerous medals and prizes including the 1930 Durer Award. Geiseler is well-listed in the Vollmer supplement of Thieme Becker's definitive dictionary of Artists.

 

Displayed in a gilt-wood frame.
