A large and lyrical Vermont landscape by this notable member of the National Academy of Design and the Institute of Arts And Letters, and former member of The Family Dog. Lerner first studied at UCLA (1960-1) and, subsequently, at the San Francisco Art Institute (1964-7). She later studied Sumi-e with Hiro Sake (1991-3) and plein-aire painting with Wolf Kahn at the University of New Mexico. Her preferred subject is landscapes which she fills with scintillating light through her vibrant palette and use of staccato brushwork. Lerner's intensive study of Japanese ink and brush painting lends her work an intuitive, calligraphic quality that finds repose at the heart of movement. We are pleased to offer a substantial and characteristic work by this notable California Plein Air painter.
