A charming, late 19th century oil painting showing a young, Italian farm girl nuzzling the muzzle of a gray donkey while a chestnut donkey stands beside them. This genre and animal painter studied at the Royal Danish Academy from 1880 to 1884. Over a long career, Mols exhibited widely and with success and was the recipient of numerous prizes and medals and juried awards including from the State Museum of Art in Copenhagen (1886) and the Paris Salon, where he was awarded a medal at the Universal Exhibition of 1900.
