Oil on Paper Laid Down on Board

19¾ x 25½ Inches

Signed Lower Right

A substantial and atmospheric landscape painted circa 1935 showing a panoramic view of the Hungarian countryside in the early spring with wild flowers blooming and ice still in the wagon ruts. Exceptional attention to detail and a painterly hand in all areas make for an outstanding landscape.

Born in Budapest, Csanki first studied in Munich with Hugo Knirr and, subsequently in Berlin and the Hague. He exhibited widely and with success and was appointed Director of the Fine Arts Museum of Hungary.
