In 1931, the pre-eminent French art critic, Andre Salmon, summed up Sascha Moldovan’s career in these words: “…Moldovan is an authentic painter. He could do nothing other than paint…” This lyrical Post-Impressionist master has left us a body of work that demonstrates a stunning breadth and depth of artistic vision. Moldovans’s 1990 retrospective at the Carnegie Art Museum, spanning sixty turbulent years of the twentieth century, highlighted this shimmering and profound cascade of creativity. We pleased to offer this painting from the artist’s mature period that illustrates Moldovan’s characteristic saturated palette and his dynamic, almost vertiginous, sense of movement.
