Painter, graphic artist and illustrator Lisbet Olrik Poulsen studied under Preben Hornung before attending Copenhagen's Fine Art Academy first for painting and, subsequently, for graphic arts. The recipient of numerous stipends, scholarships, awards and prizes, Olrik took numerous study trips to Italy, Greece and Turkey (1959); Lofoten (1960); Rome, Florence (1961) and San Cataldo (1984). She exhibited widely and with success both in Denmark and throughout Europe.
Olrik was a founding member of the art group, M59, an artist's association founded in 1959 to advocate for the inclusion of artists with less formal education, formed partially in response to their exclusion from that year's Charlottenborg Exhibition.
Lizbet Olrik's work can be found in the permanent collections of museums throughout Denmark
