Born in Vienna, Sylvain Vigny arrived in Paris in 1929 and, five years later, settled in Nice where he became an influential figure in the art community. Vigny exhibited internationally with success including in New York (1938), Zurich, Geneva, Monte Carlo, the Bernheim Young Gallery (Paris, 1948) and in Nice. Numerous retrospectives of Vigny's work have been held, including at Drouot Gallery (Paris, 1975) and at the Petit Palais (Geneva, 1989). Sylvain Vigny’s work is held in the permanent collections of museums including the Pompidou Center (Paris), the Massena Museum (Nice), the National Museum of History and Art in Luxumbourg and the Fine Arts Museum of Menton among others.
